A partial solar eclipse was visible from South Africa on Tuesday as the moon passed between the Earth and sun. Observers saw the moon "taking a bite" out of the sun by obscuring a small mandorla during the event. The ‘Ring of Fire,’ or annular eclipse, where the moon’s disc left a ring of sun, was only visible from Antarctica during this eclipse.
