A Ukrainian diver wanted by Germany over his alleged involvement in the 2022 Nord Stream explosions has been detained in Poland.

The blasts largely severed Russian gas supplies to Europe, with both Russia and the West describing the explosions as an act of sabotage. No group has taken responsibility for the blasts.

Ukraine has denied any role in the explosions. The suspect's lawyers have said he will fight against his extradition to Germany. In August, Italian police arrested another Ukrainian man suspected of coordinating the attacks. That suspect is also fighting his extradition to Germany.
