The Senate is set to vote on Thursday on two competing health care proposals—one backed by Democrats and the other by Republicans—highlighting a deep divide over how to extend support for Americans’ medical costs.

Democrats are pushing for a clean three-year extension of the COVID-era Obamacare tax subsidies, while Republicans want to redirect those same funds into health savings accounts to help families cover out-of-pocket expenses.
