Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) on June 23 sent a letter to Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Chris Wright raising concern over Chinese nationals’ access to American National Labs.

The lawmakers say DOE data shows Chinese nationals made roughly 1,900 short-term visits and held about 1,300 long-term research assignments at the labs in fiscal year 2025.
