Takaichi said Trump called her on his way back to the United States. The two discussed a range of issues involving China, particularly economic and national security. They also agreed to remain in close communication on responses to developments in the Indo-Pacific region. There, the Chinese Communist Party remains the primary aggressor, keeping Japan on high alert. Tokyo has also relaxed its weapons export restrictions, allowing it to sell arms to a dozen countries.
