A high-stakes meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping is drawing the world's attention. Trump is on his way to meet Xi.

Earlier, Trump said he would have a long discussion with Xi about the war in Iran during the meeting in China. When asked if Trump can contribute to a deal with Iran, Trump said: "He could. I mean, it might be. I don't think we need any help with Iran, to be honest with you. They're defeated militarily, and they'll either do the right thing or we'll finish the job."

The visit comes as the United States and Iran remain at an impasse in the Middle East. On May 11, Trump said the ceasefire is on "life-support," and called Tehran's response to a U.S. peace proposal
"unacceptable."

Other critical issues on the table include Iran, rare earths, Taiwan, and trade. American companies, politicians, farmers, and families are pinning different hopes on Trump to score deals and help release their loved ones detained in China. NTD unpacks topics that dominate the Trump-Xi summit.
