President Donald Trump is not ruling out military action against Venezuela, he told NBC News in a phone interview.

When asked whether he ruled out the possibility that the boat strikes that have killed more than 100 people and the blockade of sanctioned oil tankers could lead to war, Trump said, “I don’t discuss it.” Pressed further, he said, "I don’t rule it out, no," and added there would be additional seizures of oil tankers. When asked about a timeline, Trump replied, “It depends. If they’re foolish enough to be sailing along, they’ll be sailing along back into one of our harbors.”

Trump declined to say whether ousting Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro was his ultimate objective.
