The United States has slashed the number of F-1 student visas issued to China by almost 50 percent.

F-1 is the most common visa used by foreigners looking to study in the United States.

According to a report from the Center for Immigration Studies, the nited States issued around 40,034 F-1 visas to Chinese students between May and August last year, the period when most F-1 visas were issued.

It marks a 46 percent decline from the average number of visas between 2017 and 2024, excluding 2020.
