Former President Donald Trump is having to juggle court battles, including hearings in Washington D.C., as the Iowa caucuses approach.

NTD spoke to Jon Schweppe, the director of policy at the American Principles Project, who said that while President Trump may have a busy schedule, his big polling lead may propel him to victory in the state’s nomination contest. Furthermore, Mr. Schweppe said many Republican voters consider President Trump’s indictments to be a form of “political persecution”—which make them even more inclined to choose him as their nominee.

"What he's got to do is secure this primary, make sure that he's in a dominant position going forward, handle the legal issues, and then look forward to taking on Joe Biden in the year to come up to November," said Mr. Schweppe.
