The first hearing on the impeachment proceedings of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas took place today, titled "Havoc in The Heartland: How Secretary Mayorkas’ Failed Leadership has Impacted the States."

Here with some analysis of the background to the first hearing on the impeachment proceedings of Mr. Mayorkas is Hugh Fike, the director of government relations at the Conservative Partnership Institute.

"In the last two fiscal years alone, there have been 2 million people that have been released into the country, according to CBP," he said. "And if you include other years, it's over 3 million people."

Speaking of Mr. Mayorkas, Mr. Fike shared that "he says that it's [the border's] not open, when he just told the Border Patrol that over 85 percent of people apprehended at the border are being released into the country. So yeah, maybe it's not wide open, but it's certainly open."
