An orangutan kisses a woman’s pregnant belly

In the animal kingdom, orangutans are considered one of the most intelligent species. They can use tools, have complex social interactions, possess a high cortex to brain ratio, and have an impressive ability to learn new skills. Orangutans have been taught to saw wood, use a hammer to nail structures together, and even siphon liquids through a hose. While this can be assigned to simple training, what really shows the orangutan intelligence is the ability to understand the purpose of learning such skills. For example, an orangutan taught to use leaves to make rain hats, or leakproof shelters will still use this skill when released back to the wild. There has also been observed that in some food-rich areas these creatures have developed a complex culture in which adults teach youngsters how to make tools and find food. Moreover researchers are coming to the conclusion that they have moral codes and display clear emotions.

Taking this into consideration, it’s no wonder that an orangutan not only can link a bigger belly with the state of pregnancy, but also can admire this blessed state, by for example kissing a belly of a pregnant woman. Take a look:
