The autopsy results for slain Hollywood couple Robert and Michelle Reiner won't be released due to a court order, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
The Los Angeles Police Department asked for the hold as the investigation into their deaths remains ongoing.
The office confirmed it received the court order to block the release on Dec. 24.
Previous records released by the medical examiner's office show their manner of death as homicide.
The couple, who had been married for 36 years, was found dead in their upscale Brentwood home on Dec. 14. Investigators believe they died from stab wounds.
Their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances. He's currently being held without bail.
Nick Reiner had spoken publicly about his struggles with drug addiction, going in and out of treatment facilities, and even experiencing homelessness. Nick and his father directed a film about the struggles of an addicted son and a famous father. It was not autobiographical but reflected several elements of their own lives.
“It forced us to understand ourselves better than we had,” Rob Reiner said in 2016. “I told Nick while we were making it, I said, ‘You know it doesn’t matter, whatever happens to this thing, we won already.’
Rob Reiner was the Emmy-winning star of the sitcom “All in the Family,” who later became a director of successful films including “When Harry Met Sally" and “The Princess Bride.” His wife, Michelle, was a photographer and movie producer.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's office acknowledged that the case has garnered significant attention.
"The Department understands the public’s interest in these cases and remains committed to transparency when possible. Information will be made available once the court order is lifted," it said.
The deaths of the Reiners even captured the attention of President Donald Trump, who pointed to Rob Reiner's opposition to the president for the killing.
The Reiners were outspoken advocates for liberal causes and major Democratic donors.
The investigation into their deaths is ongoing.
