This self-driving chair is an ideal solution for lazy people who hate standing in line

Your car probably doesn’t have autonomous driving features. Yet over in Japan there are restaurant patrons queuing up in chairs that do. Yes, really.

The ProPilot may just be one of the most insane pieces of furniture you’ve ever seen. It mostly looks like a folding camp chair. The secret to its futuristic abilities are packed into the two black boxes at its base. Inside those volumes are the wheels, motors, sensors, and other electronics that allow the ProPilot to do its thing.

It’s the same kind of gear that goes into a car to give it features like blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warnings… which makes perfect sense since it’s Nissan that built the ProPilot.
