Shen Yun Performing Arts concluded its performances in Thousand Oaks, California on March 29.
Audiences there said they were inspired by the performance in many ways.
“Shen Yun is amazing. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s just so powerful and gripping and inspirational,” said Drew Spears, an actor and author.
“The dancers, their movement, just the body control is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s almost like they have a power within them. Even like their facial emotions are so evocative. You can just see so much humanity on their faces,” he added.
“To me it was like a universal language about history, about art, about painting, about stories,” said Lobat Weaver, a customer service manager. “It was very good.”
The world renowned classical Chinese dance show also featured a solo performance by a female soprano, which many audiences found to be a highlight.
Many noted the elements of spirituality and felt that the show expanded their worldview.
“Art can be cultivated from spirituality and you can see that there’s this real deep sense of self and pride in what they have to say and show. You can really see it on stage. It’s really magical,” said Spears.
“I felt that in this show you saw different depictions of spirituality and beliefs. And it was very nice to see,” said Justin Weaver, and engineering executive.
“The message of trying to change the world to stop the cruelty, the evil that is going on in Communist countries,” said Elena McKean, a university professor. “I’m grateful for this show. It’s very inspiring. Hopefully it’ll open up more people’s eyes so we can help make a difference for the people that are stuck over there.”
Shen Yun will be performing next in Claremont, California.
