GUADALAJARA, Mexico—Shen Yun Performing Arts dazzled audiences in Guadalajara on May 9. Audience members commented on the beauty of the music, the level of artistry, and the depth of the stories presented on stage.

Perla Coral Estrada Gobea, a certified public accountant, said, “Everything about Chinese tradition seems like perfection to me. That’s the only synonym I can think of for the show, perfection.”

“Well, the truth is that the movements are incredible—not only the jumps, but also the elegant way they move, the behavior of the dancers, the behavior of the music, which was truly impressive,” Ricardo Ortiz Gutierrez, an architect, said.

Jose Martin Cano, a lawyer, said, “Well, I loved it. I was surprised by the stage, that screen, the effects when they come out of the screen into the real world, so synchronized. And above all, the content, it deals a lot with the theme of a great philosophy of life.”

Mr. Gutierrez said, “Beyond philosophy, the Chinese wisdom, the show is magnificent. We truly loved it, and I think my family shares this sentiment.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006 and has made it its mission to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, a culture the Chinese communist regime has been seeking to destroy.

Mr. Gutierrez said, “It’s been wonderful to learn so many things we probably couldn’t even imagine. When we look at the Chinese now, we see technology, we see a number of things but we don’t see history, we don’t see culture, we don’t see dance, we don’t see music. And encountering all of that today has been truly gratifying, very gratifying for us.”

Ms. Gobea said, “In those 5,000 years, pure magnificence. Honestly, I have the utmost respect for Chinese culture.”

Mr. Gutierrez said, “It’s wonderful that this culture is being revived, and that we can access it. In fact, we’ve already brought books so we can learn a little about this important work.”

Mr. Cano said, “I felt very fulfilled. That is what has awakened in me that balance of mind, body, and spirit that I feel and perceive in the philosophy of life, in that being who is projecting this performance.”

Mr. Gutierrez said, “Well, as for the director, I think he is exceptional. To think this way and to be doing what they are doing, not just anyone can do that. And the artists, incredible! These talented young people truly deserve our respect.”

Shen Yun has now concluded its 2026 Latin American tour. The company will return with a whole new show next year.
