Cambridge Ward 3 Councillor Corey Kimpson said, “It’s my very first time coming, and it was not the last; it was amazing. I can’t wait until next year, and there's so much to take in between the dancing and the music and the costumes and the special effects. It was more than I imagined, and I really enjoyed myself.”
Cambridge Ward 5 Councillor Sheri Roberts said, “It’s my first time, it was so wonderful. Everything about it, the colors, the costumes, the music, just amazing. Some parts were so emotional and powerful. And then other parts, I was just drawn into the sound and the movement. And it made me feel really calm. I loved it. It was so wonderful.”
Cambridge Ward 1 Councillor Helen Shwery said, “It’s unbelievable. Yeah, just the ladies, the guys, the way their moves, but particularly that footwork, I was just mesmerized, like they’re just floating. Your dance is unique. Very unique compared to anything I’ve seen.”
Ms. Kimpson said, “I wasn’t expecting it to be such an educational performance. It was such a wonderful combination of the culture and the arts and the dance, but learning as well. And having the MCs provide in between each of the acts, some information for us, the history, and the meaning. It was something I wasn’t expecting, and I really enjoyed that.”
Ms. Roberts said, “I was so amazed that an instrument that only has two strings could sort of give so much feeling. I loved it.”
Drawing on legends and myths, the performance explores themes of spirituality and faith, with audience members praising the artistry and cultural depth behind the show.
Ms. Roberts said, “It’s so incredible just to see the amount of work that goes into putting on a production like this. And they’re incredible athletes, and I commend each and every one of them.”
Ms. Shwery said, “It was beautiful. It was humbling, and I’m getting goose bumps thinking about it. But thank you. It was a wonderful experience. Oh, you have to come! I’m so grateful I’m here. I’ve heard of it, but I thought, I don’t know if I’m ever gonna see something like this. And like I said to my niece, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s worth it.”
