Shen Yun Performing Arts was live on stage at Manchester’s Palace Theatre on Jan. 17 and 18. Some audience members who watched the show were amazed by the colors and energy.

"Colorful, immense. Just an experience never to be forgotten," said Andrea Moss, a company director. "Spot on, absolutely beautiful. You made my evening. You made my year."

“Different styles, different variety—but it was very, very energetic—all of the dancing they were doing,” said Fran Sumpter, a doctor. “They were really caring about what they were doing, and definitely giving off a sort of spiritual energy to them.”

Mariam Taha Rabie, a strategic consultant said: “I actually got goosebumps for the first time, from the costumes, from the dancers, from the message that they were trying to send. Absolutely beautiful. The show was amazing. And the journey through Chinese culture, it was just breathtaking.”

“Amazing. I didn't realize you could portray so much through dance. So it's the first time I've been to see something like this, and it's fantastic,” said Anthony Cavenagh, a project manager.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture, which is said to be divinely-inspired. They have been touring the world since 2006, but to this day, still cannot perform in communist-ruled China.

“It's quite unfortunate, very sad. I think that the Chinese people can't, the largest population that sits there, they can't see it. But I think the performance did a fantastic job of passing that message. And you know we have a lot of people from China who live here as well,” said Shweta Srivastava, a program lead. “I think it's great because we're losing our cultural identity increasingly, and I think it's a great initiative.”
