PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil—Shen Yun Performing Arts gave a performance in Porto Alegre, Brazil on May 10, transporting audiences on a journey through ancient China. Theatergoers shared their appreciation of the level of artistry they saw on stage.

“A lot of emotion, a lot of emotion in every piece. Incredible,” Mirian Antonia Müller Andriotti, a public servant at the federal court, said.

“It was a wonderful Mother’s Day gift,” Maísa Lirio, an engineer, said. “I really loved the synchronization and the fluid movement of the fabrics. I found it enchanting. I thought it was really beautiful.”

“So the language of expression is the music, the wonderful backdrop, there are only artists there,” João Bosco, a dentist, said.

Mari Zilgaudio, a professor, said, “So very interesting, the choreography, the staging, the interaction with technology ... there is a stage background in which there is an interaction of the dancers with that technological part.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism.” Theatergoers commented on the importance of Shen Yun’s mission in restoring traditional values and culture.

Ricardo Garcia Bottega, an advertiser, said, “Such a richness of colors, of movements. We who are from the visual field, advertising, marketing, we felt very impacted by the dance movements, by Chinese culture, and many things we did not know. We are also learning.”

“The group deserves to be congratulated. Congratulations! And it’s fantastic—the message they leave through the dance, and especially that final message of restoration, of hope, and the divine that exists within every human being,” Ms. Andriotti said.

Mr. Bosco said, “How can I describe it? You can only understand it by feeling it. I felt replenished.”

Ms. Lirio said of the erhu soloist, “I also really loved the lady who played that instrument whose name I don’t know. It was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Really, really wonderful. Next year, we’ll be here again.”

“It’s also fantastic. Everything is very beautiful. It truly makes us leave here feeling elevated,” Ms. Andriotti said.

Mr. Bosco said, “And now, we’re already planning to see the new one next year.”

Shen Yun has now concluded its 2026 Latin American tour. The company will return with a whole new show next year.
