As Shen Yun Performing Arts makes its way across Canada for its 20th-anniversary world tour, Canadian officials are voicing their support and praising the company’s contribution to traditional culture, ahead of its arrival in Toronto on March 28.

Member of Parliament Judy Srgo said, “I am honored to extend my warmest greetings to everyone celebrating the return of Shen Yun to Toronto as part of its 20th anniversary tour. Its mission to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and values, offers the audience a powerful artistic journey that celebrates compassion, courage, and freedom here in Canada.

"When artists and cultural groups face increasing pressure and intimidation beyond national borders, it is especially important that we stand firmly for artistic freedom and cultural expression. I hope the audiences from across Canada are inspired by this extraordinary celebration of culture and tradition, and have a wonderful evening.”

Member of Parliament Garnett Genius said, “This is a beautiful display that I’ve had the honor of seeing in a number of different cities across Canada, where traditional Chinese culture is maintained, shared, and celebrated. Wish you all the best as we celebrate traditional Chinese culture and the values that it represents.”

Conservative Deputy Leader Melissa Lantsman wrote a congratulatory message to Shen Yun, saying: "Shen Yun also represents a profound connection to the past, preserving the masterful choreography, music, and stories of ancient China that might otherwise be lost." Your conservation of ancient Chinese wisdom and knowledge are deeply appreciated.

Member of Parliament Scott Reid also sent his support, writing: "Shen Yun is the best way I can think of, of introducing young people, or the curious, to the beauty and vast sweep of Chinese Culture. Best wishes on the 20th anniversary of this cultural masterpiece."

Member of Parliament James Bezan sent a letter calling for accountability for the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China, while wishing the tour continued success, writing: "Through music and dance, Shen Yun brings to life enduring values such as truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance—principles that resonate deeply with Canadians and reflect the foundations of our free and democratic society.

"Canada is proud to uphold freedom of expression, freedom of belief, and cultural diversity. Performances such as Shen Yun not only enrich our communities but also serve as a meaningful expression of these freedoms."

Member of Parliament Andrew Lawton also welcomed Shen Yun’s return to Toronto, writing: "Shen Yun has become known around the world for its efforts to share stories, history, and artistic traditions that are often suppressed elsewhere. Shen Yun’s presence in Canada is a reminder of why these freedoms matter."

Shen Yun will present eight performances at Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts from March 28 through April 5.
