DENVER—Colorado Senator, Iman Jodeh, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 12, 2026, at The Buell Theatre.

Ms. Jodeh came to Shen Yun bearing a tribute to the company for bringing diversity to Colorado.

“What we're bringing today is a tribute to Shen Yun and the cultural diversity that it brings to Colorado. [We’re] honoring Chinese culture through dance and story, and we wanted to make sure that we are fostering that diversity for the people of Colorado,” Ms. Jodeh said.

Shen Yun, based in New York, is on a mission to present "China before communism" and to revive people's connection to 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture.

“I'm super honored to be asked to present this on behalf of the 75th General Assembly and the Senate. We recognize the value and the richness that this [has brought] for the past 20 years, and we want to make sure that we continue to be a welcoming state for this cultural diversity—Shen Yun,” Ms. Jodeh said.

Throughout the various dynasties, values such as loyalty and filial piety became engraved into the people. When the Chinese Communist Party came into power, it systematically destroyed and distorted those precious parts of Chinese culture.

“I think some of the more beautiful moments were when there was humanity. When people in need found that help from people who could give,” Ms. Jodeh said.

Shen Yun's artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.
“It was absolutely beautiful and captivating. I thought it was a wonderful way to expose Chinese culture and history to Colorado and really allow us to enjoy the history of Chinese culture,” Ms. Jodeh said.

She also felt that Shen Yun was a reminder of the value of hope. Shen Yun presents the beauty of a shared humanity.

“I think it was very palpable and I think it was very relevant in the times that we're living to really hang on to that hope and that humanity and really make sure that that's what we're centering [on it]. We are trying to remind ourselves as a human race that we have a shared humanity and that hope is what should be bringing us together,” Ms. Jodeh said.
