“The artistry is just absolutely amazing. The costuming too is one of the things we come for, because this is absolutely astounding, the colors and the designs and the costumes,” said Pat Reeder, a writer.
Nicole Giroux, a business owner, said, “it was the emotion behind the movement. They don't have to say anything, and you're just feeling it.”
“I knew that there was going to be a lot of physical prowess and beautiful dancing, but I wasn't expecting the integration of the digital background,” said Hailey Lain, an animator.
“I think anything with kindness is wonderful. I think people who have kindness in their heart and their soul is a good thing to do,” said Amanda Nelson, the CTO of her company. “I think that this really does a great job of showing what China was before communism.”
According to its website, Shen Yun is “more than just a performance—it’s a revival of the beauty and goodness of China before communism.”
“I think it really resonates, especially in today's world and I hope that China can get back to that where they're not being oppressed for their beliefs,” said Joe Garrett, a company CEO. “The Chinese Communist Party is trying to tamp down on those beliefs. And I think that now, with the interconnectivity of the world, that we should probably champion those beliefs instead of trying to oppress them.”
“Coming to see a show like this, you walk out of here feeling good. You walk out of here just feeling like you want more. Two hours isn't enough for this show,” said Gary Bosek, a filmmaker. “This is not your ordinary theater production. This is something much deeper than that.”
“I think you're telling a great story. I think you're telling the story of China throughout the ages, and it really is resonating,” said Peter Rozes, a company executive.
