Shen Yun Performing Arts brought audiences on a journey through ancient China as it performed in Lausanne, Switzerland, from Feb. 20 to 22. Among the audience were many politicians, including the mayor of the French city Messery, Serge Bel, and his wife.

“Very fresh. Very artistic. And very pleasant. Because it's something ... It's a moment of relaxation. And it's really beautiful. With all in color. Very nice,” Mr. Bel said. His wife Dali Bel said, “the show is really fantastic. Fabulous artists ... And bravo for the costumes too. We can find such gorgeous shades of color. So beautiful! Impressive. We had a really great time.”

“The show is magnificent, it's full of color. The dancers are cheerful and smiling, and you can see that a lot of work has gone into the show. The music is magnificent, having the music live. The opera singer was magnificent. Thank you very much for this beautiful show,” Mary-Claude Fallet said. She is president of the Council of the Canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

“You can see the characters arriving at the bottom of the screen. And immediately the dancers appear, it's absolutely magnificent, and the cohesion, the whole thing is absolutely rigorous and very, very well done,” said Pascal Altenbach, Geneva city councilor.

“Dance, music, art. That's what beauty is all about,” Mr. Bel said.

Through classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun retells stories and legends from ancient Chinese culture. Audiences spoke highly of the professionalism and discipline of Shen Yun artists.

“It's exceptional, exceptional, the level, high level, the level is very high,” said Christo Ivanov, council member of the State of Geneva.

“The dancers are absolutely magnificent. You get the feeling that they're not only professionals, but people who have trained daily for this show. I've been told that the show was different last year, and that it's new this year, so it proves that the dancers have done a fantastic job,” Mr. Altenbach said.

“I think you can see there's a kindness in their movements. They do it with a smile and they've really worked hard. You can tell there's a unity to the show. And with the orchestra, it's simply magnificent. Thank you so much,” Ms. Fallet said.

Mr. Altenbach added, “when you see these dancers, you feel that it's really in the tradition of China, 5,000 years of history, and it makes you want to dig deeper, to become more interested in Chinese history.”

“They really bring out all the culture, all their culture. It's great. This is great,” Mr. Bel said.

“It was an excellent show that spoke of Chinese traditions going back 5,000 years. It's extremely interesting to maintain culture, to maintain traditions. It's very important to pass this on to new generations and not lose this culture,” Mr. Ivanov said.

Shen Yun also depicts modern stories, including the Chinese regime’s persecution of Falun Dafa, a meditation practice based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.

“So I know Falun Gong, I've even done an initiation in Geneva and it's very interesting and the aim is to center oneself in alignment to find inner peace in the end,” Mr. Ivanov said. “I think it's Shen Yun's aim to pass on to future generations, and especially during the shows, to show people like us who are Swiss or from other countries, to show what's really going on in China in terms of persecution. We didn't talk about organ trafficking, for example. I think it's important to get these things across to the West, so that people understand that people are persecuted in China.”

“I think it's very interesting because, given the current regime, we don't know the culture of China, as it's been lost. I read in the brochure that since 1949, communism has somewhat abolished culture. So it's very interesting to learn about the culture of these regions,” Ms. Fallet said. “You have to keep going, persevere, because you mustn't stigmatize or trivialize things.”

“It's very important to continue and carry this message. Because it's a message from truth and a message of freedom,” Mr. Ivanov said.

“And I hope we'll be able to see it soon in Geneva, and thank you for allowing me to speak to you, and congratulations again, it's great, very, very good,” Mr. Altenbach said.
