Shen Yun Performing Arts completed its performances in Boston, Massachusetts on Dec. 31. They brought the audiences a taste of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.

“I think it was just amazing. It was almost speechless, I don’t think I’ve ever seen something quite like this. It was well done, in every way,” said Kelly Kelly, the CEO of Kelly Financial Services.

Allyssa Bates, director of organizational development at TRINITY, was impressed with the artists and their delicacy. “[I’m] so impressed at the dancers’ ability to maneuver their costumes in such a delicate, proficient way. There was just so much skill there and they made it look easy.”

“It’s just unreal… I’m just so emotional right now since it’s very touching,” said Florian Rouiller, who is a dance teacher and a choreographer. “I love [it] because it’s so pure. The way everything moves with so much from the inside. It’s not just doing movement, you can move from the outside. Everything is inner, it’s the energy, how it comes from the inner space.”

The theatergoers got a chance to experience traditional Chinese culture before communism.

“It’s beautiful. I think what drew me into it was sort of the fact that th[ese] sort of pieces, it’s banned from China. It’s showing sort of the traditional heritage and the history of China before communism. It’s just beautiful,” said Monica Wemyss, who works as a news photographer at NBC Boston.

Chris Shepler, an investment adviser, came to watch Shen Yun’s performance with his teenage son. “We figured this would be a good cultural experience. But certainly we have no love for communism, so understanding it’s China before communism made a lot of sense to us.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive a heritage that spans thousands of years.

“I think it’s beautiful and to show the loyalty people have to their culture. And to bring it to everybody else in the world is amazing that they can share that with us,” Ms. Viveiros said.

“It’s incredible to witness the culture how it should be,” Ms. Wemyss said.
