World-class dancers and musicians took the stage at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre in the UK on January 29th, as they continue to revive the essence of Chinese culture across the world.

Among the audience watching Shen Yun Performing Arts was the Mayor of Bournemouth Jackie Edwards.

"What a magnificent show. The costumes the women wear are just absolutely fabulous," she said.

The dancers bring legendary stories to life through a projected backdrop, costumes that are true to the time and location of the pieces, and a live orchestra.

"It was fascinating. And the background scenery, so clever, the way they leapt in and out. That was really, really good. Yes, a very, very enjoyable show. I'm so glad I was able to come."

Shen Yun has a mission to revive China’s 5,000 year old culture on stage, a culture that was almost destroyed in China under communist rule.

"They really love what they're doing. I think they're very proud of what they're doing. And just lovely to see the culture, that they're keeping that going, 5,000 years," said the Mayor.

China’s ancient culture is said to be divinely inspired. The mayor commented on how this came through in the stories portrayed on stage.

"You treat people badly, you come off badly yourself. So I think it was a message there for everybody in modern day Britain as well," she said.
