New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts brought three sold-out performances to Miaoli, Taiwan, on Jan. 9 and Jan. 10. Through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun left a deep impression on the audience, with their portrayal of traditional Chinese culture and history.

“I was moved to tears by the [Shen Yun artistic director’s] dedication to the preservation and promotion of Chinese culture,” said sculptor and artist Ping-Yu Yang.

“I admire [Shen Yun] so much,” said hospital president Yi-Hung Liu. “They dedicate all their energy to such a beautiful thing and convey a very profound meaning. The entire backdrop, the entire imagery, the arrangement of every angle, and the music are all so perfect that I can only say they are flawless. Thank you.”

“The performance is incredibly rich. This is a wonderful world. It’s a vision that inspires longing,” said Wen-Miin Tian, a former professor at the National Sun Yat-sen University.

“It was breathtaking. All I felt was deep gratitude, so much that it brought me to tears. Yet at the same time, you could see the professionalism, the care, the dedication, and the refinement,” said tech company head Yu-Jou Shih.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional, divinely inspired Chinese culture and values, showcasing the beauty of China from before communism.

“The performance spreads truth, goodness, and beauty to the whole world,” said orchestra director Shu-Chen Hsien. “The technology is cutting-edge, and it also showcases the beauty of our classical and traditional culture. That’s why the shows are sold out everywhere in the world. [The stage] feels like a real-life scene, like a fairyland has come to life. It’s amazing.”

“I believe it is truly precious that China’s 5,000 years of cultural heritage can be brought to life on stage in a performance like this. You can really sense it. So I believe that, for people today, it has a stabilizing effect,” said Yi-Hung Liu.

Audience members were also inspired by the artists’ inner discipline and the energy radiating from their performance.

“Seeing how [Shen Yun] expresses Chinese culture through dance is truly remarkable. Such elegant performance must come from inner cultivation to achieve this level of artistry. I think this is no easy feat,” said company chairman Chun-Ming Lin. “There’s a reason why Shen Yun can operate worldwide. The relationship between humanity and nature that they convey is a crucial factor in its continued success and growth.”

“The resonance is quite strong, because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a performance like this. My biggest takeaway is that by doing our best, we can influence those around us to move in a positive direction, which is truly precious in this world,” said Wen-Miin Tian.

“Godspeed, I wish [Shen Yun] a smooth journey and great box office success and positive feedback worldwide,” said company chairman Ssu-Wei Han.

Shen Yun will be performing in Taipei, Taiwan, until Feb. 4.
