On the evening of Jan. 6, 2026, Mr. Morrison and his wife, Mary Morrison, attended Shen Yun’s second local performance at the Harris Center in Folsom, California.
“One thing I noticed is that they also believe humanity came from the divine. That hadn’t occurred to me before,” Mr. Morrison remarked.
He also said the depiction of heavenly realms in the performance was captivating and that it “just feels peaceful.”
Mrs. Morrison especially enjoyed Shen Yun’s classical Chinese dance and original costumes. Having danced herself in the past, she felt Shen Yun’s classical Chinese dance was unique.
Shen Yun also portrays the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China who uphold the values of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. Mrs. Morrison said the transition on stage from peaceful to harsh and brutal conveyed a powerful message that made her more aware of the reality in China today and left her deeply saddened.
“It’s all just brilliant,” he said.
