NEW YORK CITY—On April 11, Shen Yun New York Company presented its 17th performance at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City to a sold-out audience. At this global center of finance and the arts, the performance once again showcased a cultural event of remarkable impact.

Among those in attendance was former ballet dancer Ms. Marilyn Pettinati, accompanied by her friend Joe Moreno.

Ms. Pettinati is now a psychotherapist. She previously had a rich background in the performing arts, having danced with a ballet company and toured in New York and across the United States. In addition to ballet, she worked in theater and as an actress.

After watching Shen Yun’s presentation of classical Chinese and ethnic dance, Ms. Pettinati said she was deeply drawn to the unique style and was especially impressed by the young dancers’ technical skill and stage presence. “I was a ballet dancer, and I also did theater, so I can truly appreciate what they did,” she said.
She spoke highly of the performers’ abilities. “They are amazing. Their level is wonderful—they have genius. It’s genius,” she said.

Clearly impressed, Ms. Pettinati added, “They should be in the Olympics—I really feel that way.”

She expressed profound admiration for the young artists. If given the chance to meet them in person, she said, “I would kneel at their feet in adoration of what they can do.”

Mr. Moreno, a consultant in the cosmetic industry, was also impressed by the production’s visual presentation. “The colors and the backdrop were beautiful—the staging was gorgeous,” he said.

Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired heritage and share with audiences the beauty of China before communism.

Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Shen Yun tours the world with eight companies of equal scale, bringing this vibrant cultural renaissance to audiences across the globe.
