Theatergoers in Frankfurt, Germany, welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts with a full house and warm applause on Feb. 8 and 9. Many audience members were deeply impressed with the skill and artistry of the performers.

“This precision and this simultaneity and elegance, it has such a high level of grace and professionalism in its expression. So it’s very special,” said Wiebke Höljes, a choreographer and graphic designer at the National Theater.

Natalie Kettel-Neumann, a dancer and dance teacher, said: “I am amazed by the colors, by the skill, by the attention to detail. And what fascinates me so much, which we don't have in the West, is this connection to divinity, to higher beings. We don't have that here.”

“I feel very, very excited. I'm touched, too, because the colors are all gorgeous. I am very excited. And it's even more beautiful live than in the video or on film,” said Bozena Koniakowska, a business owner.

Smail Liassy, a senior verification manager and consultant, said: “The transitions from reality to fiction are fluid, they go over into each other. I thought that was great. I thought it was very beautiful.”

“I'm also very, very excited. Especially the overall concept with the background and the stage and the many colors and perfect dancers. I liked that very, very much,” said Sabine Dankwardt, a former speech therapist.

Shen Yun aims to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, a heritage believed by ancient Chinese people to be a gift from the divine. Some audience members see these values displayed by Shen Yun as essential.

Chris Barth, a newspaper editor, said: “It is important that we know that there is a connection upwards. And people are losing this connection. We are so distracted. We are so stressed that we lose all that. And that actually leads us away from divinity and away from humanity, too. And if we come together again and seek this connection, then I think we have a good chance of developing further and to remember our traditional values again.”

“It is very thought-provoking. It's meant to bring solidarity. You need a religion, you need a community, you need traditions. It's very interesting,” said Udo Beilborn, the founder and leader of the Frankfurt Jazz Orchestra.

Martina Sternberg, a marketing and events director, said: “At this moment when everything is very uncertain, no matter where you look, I think it's the belief in something divine, in something higher than what we are here on earth, that can help everyone.”

Shen Yun will be performing in Mülheim, Germany, from Feb. 12 to 16.
