New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts was in the southern German city of Ludwigsburg from March 2 to 5, presenting China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture on stage. Audience members were highly impressed by Shen Yun’s artistic level.

“This is the fourth time I have been to a Shen Yun performance here in the theater, and I am thrilled every time,” said Franz Weckesser. He was a China advisor to the Ministry of Economics of the German state of Baden-Württemberg.

“I thought the level of the performance was very, very high. Starting with the jumps, for example, and also the synchronized movement,” said automotive company senior manager Martin Wanner.

“Fascinating, it is indescribably beautiful, the precision and dedication with which these dancers dance,” said yoga company founder Silvia Karolin Langenfeld.

“All the artists, the performers, the uniform stage design in combination is very, very breathtaking,” said automobile engineer Martin Wabschke.

“The musical instruments and the singing, I would say they simply took you to another world,” said Andrea Pop-Philips. She is the construction project manager of a leading global group.

“I brought opera glasses to take a closer look at the costumes, incredibly beautiful, so the design of the costumes and the style and the lightness of the fabrics and so really beautiful and the colors and the harmony,” said automotive quality control manager Hildegard Weber.

Through dance and music, Shen Yun conveys the values of traditional Chinese culture that are rooted in the Divine. Audience members said they were deeply touched and inspired.

“What touched me very much was this message right at the beginning, that the angels must now go to earth to start this new era. I personally found that very touching because I also believe that in this day and age, good should prevail again,” said Ms. Weber.

“We saw that things come from the divine, like this journey to earth. And also at the end that the divine is behind it, that these principles should also be lived by us humans. And I found that very impressive in the mixture with the Chinese tradition,” said Mr. Wanner.

“I feel very connected to the divine,” said Silvia Karolin Langenfeld. “What came across for me was that it was a wonderful connection between earth and heaven—what the dancers portrayed wonderfully.”

“What definitely came across were truthfulness, compassion, forbearance. These are values that should be increasingly taken into account nowadays because they are disappearing,” said Ms. Weber.

“The way it came across to me was, on the one hand, respect and kindness, but also a lightness that makes you chuckle a bit and be cheerful. So I think that’s a well-rounded message that was conveyed,” said Ms. Pop-Philips.

Shen Yun now performs around the world, and they can also convey the traditional values and still perform the historical dances, which is forbidden in today’s communist China,” said Mr. Weckesser.

“I had made enquiries and was very touched by the story behind these performances, behind the whole dance group. I said to myself that I would like to experience it live and, above all, support it by buying a ticket. I will certainly come back next year,” said Ms. Weber.

“It is definitely worth going here. It’s a completely new experience and it’s a dream world that you get to see,” said Wolfgang Wemhoff.
