‘Graceful and Strong’: Shen Yun Moves Kentucky Audience

January 17, 2023

Shen Yun Performing Arts came to Louisville, Kentucky, on Dec. 30, 2022, right before the start of the new year.

“It was stunning. It was beautiful, just as graceful and beautiful as I’ve ever seen anything,” said Brian Martel, an outside sales representative at Air Hydropower.

“It’s a very beautiful show,” said podiatry specialist Dr. Keith Myrick, who was also in the audience. “I find the performers very athletic … The color’s spectacular, the background’s spectacular.”

Breanna Mullings, a realtor at Coldwell Banker, was also impressed by Shen Yun. “It was absolutely amazing, definitely,” she said.

Audience members were impressed by Shen Yun’s live orchestra.

“The orchestra I thought was wonderful. The instruments, the sound that I heard … in the way it matched with the dance and the artists,” Mr. Martel said, “I was stunned … Most of the time, I was just sat at the end of my seat staring, and I was very happy to be here.”

“It is kind of interesting how the dancers and the orchestra are very much in sync.” Dr. Myrick said.

Shen Yun aims to revive the 5,000 years of Chinese culture and history from before communism.

“It’s very interesting, somewhere we’ve never been before. It’s interesting to watch from 5,000 years ago to present,” Dr. Myrick said. “I think culture is very important to your modern-day country … so we should always think back to where we began.”

“I love all of the cultural insight and the history, and the various instruments and dancing. It was really incredible.” Ms. Mullings said.

Mr. Martel thanked Shen Yun Performing Arts for their beautiful performance. “I wouldn’t even know how to express what I think about their talent … It was graceful and strong and just artistic in expression … It was beautiful, so thank you [Shen Yun] for sharing your gifts with us,” he said.

The new season of Shen Yun runs until May.
