Shen Yun Performing Arts received a warm welcome from audience members at the State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick on March 23.  Audience members said they were deeply impressed with Shen Yun’s artistry.

“Brilliant. The music mixing western and eastern instruments—it was wonderful,” said Katherine Desinger, an opera singer.

“I’m leaving here a happy person. I’ll probably dream of this the rest of my life, of the beauty and the grace.”

Brandis Riba, a choreographer, said the men danced in a very masculine way. "It was nice to see that. I really enjoy that they were very, very graceful. Almost like they had power packs on their feet to make the jumps that high, and the women did too,” said Ms. Riba.

“It was just unbelievable. The colors, the costumes, just the skill of the dancers were phenomenal,” said Joe Gillis, who is a mortgage banker.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s true culture and values, which are inspired by the Divine. The company’s artists tell 5,000 years of stories through classical Chinese dance and music, plus an animated backdrop. Since taking power, the Chinese Communist Party has systematically tried to destroy that culture, so Shen Yun cannot perform inside China.

“I encourage people of China to continue to put forth the traditions that have been so important to culture, and to tell the world, because it’s a beautiful, beautiful thing,” said Betti Singh, an employment counselor.

“We come from a land, Cuba, which also has been persecuted under communism for the last 60 years, so I appreciate your message,” said Osiris Galan, who is an electrical engineer.

“It was beautiful. It was magnificent. The dancing and the expression and the ability of these people to express, it just touched my heart,” said Jennifer Tutino, who is a medical esthetician.

Shen Yun will perform at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City from Wednesday until April 12.
