Shen Yun Performing Arts gave two performances in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Feb. 21 and 22, dazzling audiences with a display of traditional Chinese dance and music. Audience members were amazed at the artistry and skill of the performers.

Bill LaGue, owner of The Way Professional Services, said, “The sound was impressive. I thought it was a recording. I didn’t see all the orchestra down in the pit, pretty impressive. And the dancers, the athleticism, the whole show, the theme was great. The colors and that screen behind with the animation. Perfect.”

Dan Squire, a consultant, said, “The music was great. The choreography was amazing. The acrobatics were amazing. You could definitely tell they put a lot of work into this show.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional culture from China before communism. A culture the Chinese regime has been trying to suppress since 1949.

Julissa Squire, a human resources manager, said, “I loved it. It was very compelling. And it just really spoke to the classical Chinese culture. You don’t get to hear that often here in the United States. So it was an honor to be here.”

Giuliana Gonzalez, an electrical engineer, said, “It was very impressive. Seeing how the show, the choreography, the spiritual side of it and just bringing light to such a horrible situation in China.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun simultaneously tours the world with 8 different companies, bringing classical Chinese dance and music to life on stage. Each performance also features themes of spirituality and faith, values found at the heart of traditional Chinese culture.

Ms. Squire said, “No matter what religion or faith we have, we are all made by one Divine Creator. And I do believe being united in prayer and in faith is important. ... I think they did an amazing job because you don’t get to hear that often.”

Ms. Gonzalez said, “When the gentleman was singing the tenor, and they had the lyrics, I was so glad to be able to understand what he was [singing]. And when I realized that his lyrics were about God, and about that higher being, it was beautiful.”

Rick Dupree, a former executive VP for development at Indiana University, said, “The program is extraordinarily wonderful. It’s beautiful. It’s breathtaking, and I’m sorry it took me so long to finally attend.”

Shen Yun will be in Birmingham, Alabama, from Feb. 28 through March 1.
