Shen Yun Performing Arts transported audience members on a journey through millennia of traditional Chinese culture at the SEC in Glasgow, Scotland, from Feb. 28 to March 2.

“It was breathtaking really. It was a great experience to watch. Just the different cultures and the costumes and the choreography is out of this world,” said Interior Designer Linsey McLean.

“It’s divine, it’s love, it’s caring, it’s energy, it’s power–it’s what us human beings should be all about love and compassion and care. And I think that comes across very strongly,” she said.

Director Tanya Hendry said the performance was “wonderfully colorful” and “extremely clever.”

“The technique of the dancers is unbelievable—the grace, the poise,” she said. “I really did enjoy the singer, the opera singer. I thought she was wonderful.”

Shen Yun brings timeless stories to the stage through classical Chinese dance and music.

“The orchestra was specifically really good, really emotional, I think the screen was unbelievable!” said CEO Lee McClean.

“Each story was a little vignette on its own and it all came together in the end really, really well so it was really fantastic, really impressive!” said radio host Bene Briggs-McKinlay.

Shen Yun tours 20 countries each year with pieces that show genuine Chinese culture from before communism. But after decades of communist rule, much of this culture has been lost in China.

Senior Scientist, Karolina Tokarczyk was deeply moved.

“I think everyone who’s seeing this show really appreciates it. And hopefully one day they would be able to show the same in their own country,” she said.
