Shen Yun Performing Arts performed in Torino, Italy, at the Teatro Regio Torino on Dec. 30 and 31. Audience members described the artistry of the performers.

“It’s fabulous!” said Giorgia Ronga, an entrepreneur. “And it’s wonderful to see how much class and elegance your dancers have. And also your culture, it’s truly amazing how everything was organized. Very elegant.”

“They really impressed me because they are [not only] great artists, but they are also great athletes. I have to say that their physical training, which is similar to that of professional gymnasts, really struck me,” said Daniele Giordano, a financial advisor.

Silvia Rosa Brusin, a teacher, said, “I was moved by the delicacy of the colors, the movements, the choral aspect of the movements. There were individual personalities, but the choral aspect was very beautiful as a whole. Very, very beautiful.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism, through a display of classical Chinese dance and music.

“It’s very charming, very beautiful, surprising. The great thing is this interplay between the stage and the [digital] backdrop, with the artists disappearing and reappearing. It’s like being in a fairy tale in reality, and reality in a fairy tale,” said Giuseppe Bosio, an engineer.

“Absolutely fascinating, because there were instruments I had never heard before. The orchestra was of the highest caliber, and I must say that both the tenor and the artist who played really moved me deeply,” Mr. Giordano said.

Each performance includes themes of spirituality and faith, a value the communist regime in China has been trying to destroy since taking power in 1949.

“I must say that these are very profound messages. We should probably take what is good from Chinese society and civilization before communism,” Mr. Giordano said.

Silvio Barel, an accountant, said, “It definitely shines through, especially in the movements, in the silence of the movements, because you never hear a footstep on the wood, on the stage. So this lightness in the movements, in the choreography together, in the silence of the light movements, [the dancers are] like the gods themselves.”

Dino Lobascio, an entrepreneur, said, “It was fantastic, wonderful to see all these young people so enthusiastic, it opens the heart and also gives hope.”

Shen Yun will continue with performances in Torino, Italy, until Jan. 4.
