Shen Yun Performing Arts brought 5,000 years of traditional Chinese civilization to life in Torino, Italy, on Jan. 3. Audience members were moved by the artistry and skill of the performers.

“It’s wonderful, I liked everything about the show. I also liked the fact that the show doesn’t just try to entertain, but also conveys a very profound message, which I really appreciated,” said Alberto Boetti, a judge.

“The choreography was amazing, as were the costumes, and I know how much work goes into it,” said Olga Litvichko, a piano teacher. “But on stage you see this lightness, and I know that behind this lightness there are many hours of work, so congratulations.”

Jacqueline Do Santos Campos, a business owner, said, “It’s wonderful, it’s impactful, it’s not just visual but it also speaks to our souls. It’s profound. I was really moved. It’s wonderful.”

Gerardo Franchini, a management consultant, said, “The thing that surprises me the most is the technique of the dancers. Technically, they are truly, practically perfect. The synchrony they have is absolutely impressive.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism, through classical Chinese music and dance.

Mr. Boetti said, “I learned about the great respect Chinese culture has for the elderly and an aspect I didn’t know about, which is humor, because there is a subtle irony in the stories that I really appreciated.”

“The music enveloped you, together with the dance. It was wonderful to hear the pianist playing an Italian piano, a Fazioli, and it was also wonderful to hear the soprano and the other lady playing the traditional instrument, the erhu, very beautiful,” said Ms. Litvichko.

Mr. Boetti said, “I think that the message of salvation from the light that descends from Heaven to Earth and brings renewal to the hearts of all beings who are seeking it is a message of great hope.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun is currently celebrating 20 years since its founding in 2006, and has since performed in front of millions of audience members worldwide.

“Everyone [should] be able to truly express what they feel when they watch the show, listen to the songs, and see all these movements and colors. It’s really a very personal experience,” said Ms. Campos. “When I arrived and heard the first notes of the music, the songs, I really got goosebumps. It was wonderful, wonderful, congratulations.”

Shen Yun has now concluded its 2026 European Tour and will return with a whole new production next year.
