World-class artists graced the stage at Wycombe Swan theatre in High Wycombe on Feb. 21.

Among the audience watching Shen Yun Performing Arts was the Mayor of High Wycombe, Majid Hussain.
"High Wycombe hasn't had any performances like this before. Shen Yun was one that was much needed in High Wycombe and I'm glad that it has come into High Wycombe eventually and I hope it comes back again and again and it just goes to show the wider community and the wider cultures the way it was performed on the stage today, it was amazing," Mr. Hussain said.
He added, "It was really appreciated by the audience and everybody really enjoyed it and I was talking to a lot of people in here and they were amazed the way the performances was done, and they were glad that Shen Yun was here eventually in High Wycombe."
Shen Yun has a mission to revive the essence of China’s 5,000-year-old culture before communism, through dance and music.
China was once known as the land of the divine. Shen Yun’s pieces bring out values such as wisdom, propriety, and kindness.

"That was very, very important to bring out the old tradition and old culture and perform in front of the stage, in front of the people, showing them: this is what it was all about. And it's good to know that people still remember those old culture and old values," Mr. Hussain said.

"It was absolutely beautiful, the traditions and the values and looking out for each other, the respect within the community and the elders respect in there, it showed really true colors," he added.

Shen Yun’s dancers bring legends, historical characters as well as modern day scenes to life on stage, through the ancient art form of classical Chinese dance. It’s one of the most expressive dance forms in the world.

"Absolutely amazing. I don't know where they get the stamina from. I was sitting there and I was thinking they put in such a beautiful performance out there and they're not even out of breath. It was done so beautifully and so amazingly. It was professionally done," he said.

Shen Yun was founded in New York 20 years ago, and has since grown to eight companies that tour the world simultaneously. The Mayor said he hopes Shen Yun will return to High Wycombe.

"I hope it does come back again because it was really appreciated by the audience and the wider people within the Wycombe Swan Theatre here. So I'm hoping to come back here again next year to watch this," he said.
