Andrea Hazell, a member of provincial parliament for Scarborough-Guildwood, said, “I was blown away. This time, you know, the passion, the energy, the culture. You feel that peace and you feel the love. And especially in today’s world right now, we need that peace and that harmony and that love. But the passion, the dancers, the movement, the energy, it’s breathtaking. You’ve got to be here to see it. We cannot put this experience in words.”
Dawn Britton, associate director at the University of Toronto, said, “We were so impressed with all the different styles that we got to see this evening and the artistry. And of course, the musicianship was wonderful. We couldn’t actually get over how incredibly succinct and just wonderful it was, just wonderful.”
Brent Willock, a psychologist, said, “Very impressive. The dancing and the acrobatic component of the dancing is really impressive, too. And the integration with the beautiful background visuals, the way they move between the stage and the screen is very impressive.”
Sky Ilerie, a clinical psychologist and clinic owner, said, “The voice is so nice. When you close your eyes, you can feel the energy. You don’t need to know the language, but you can feel the soul. You can feel the vibration, you can feel the energy. I like it so much and I’m so happy to be here.”
Dave Bernie, a strategy firm CEO, said, “The story was amazing. And my history class growing up didn’t really cover a lot of Chinese history. So to go back centuries and centuries and learn more about the kind of folklore stories and the dynasties and get to see the architecture and see the dress was really fascinating to see.”
ZoeAbu Awad, an owner of a childcare centre, said, “We actually look forward to it. I know they said they do new choreography every year, so we’re looking forward to the next performance and what they have to bring to the stage. We learned a lot too through the dialogue. And we didn’t know that all these moves and these flips originated from China. So we learned a lot of stuff. So it was amazing.”
Ms. Britton added, “I think it’s really important to portray both the history and what’s happening in the present day. And I thought that it was presented extremely well and sensitive to the topic, but also beautifully presented to the audience, and it was very easy to understand through dance. Congratulations on the most wonderful show. And the group of choreographers that you have.”
Ms. Hazell added, “I love it. And I’m going to be here next year.”
