Senator Neal said, “There's so many different elements, cultural elements that are very intricate. [There are] very interesting story lines, and so I'm really enjoying the experience.
“You feel like you're learning from each and every scene that comes up. You're learning a different aspect about some cultural story. And I think that that's powerful,” she said.
Senator Neal has represented Nevada’s 4th District in the upper house since 2020, after serving as representative in the State Assembly from 2010. After watching Shen Yun, she said she was personally moved by the spiritual message of the performance.
“I like the dance where they talked about being one with the Creator—that really resonated with me. The idea that all things come from one being and are in alignment really touched me,” she said. “The imagery, the way the dancers position their bodies, it was almost like I pictured a swan that was sitting on this water.”
“Based on the dance, it’s about the Creator and about having oneness with God, so I don’t understand why that would be crushed. I thought that was beautiful,” Senator Neal said. “It seems like it's wrong not to allow dancers to be able to perform in their own country. And so it seems like there needs to be a shift in the acceptance of all people to be able to exist.”
Senator Neal resonated with the sense of peace she felt while watching the performance, and recommended everyone to get to the theater to see Shen Yun.
“It's great. You guys put a lot of detail, a lot of work goes into this show, and the fact that it's around the United States and [internationally], it's a lot,” she said. “It's worth coming to see ... it's amazing and it's very beautiful.”
