“This was the most beautiful show across the board. My children came with me, and we had the most wonderful time. We loved the storytelling, the artwork, the athleticism, but also the God aspect. We really just loved how beautiful the storytelling from the past to the present day was. It was incredible,” said Brianna Minnock, a consultant with LMI Consulting.
Justina Hetman, the owner of All Yarn Drive, said, “It’s so relaxing, and I think it’s not my last time, it’s my first time, very first time, but I’m sure it’s not my last time. So I’m so grateful I could be here with my friends.”
Pat Fisher, a retired fashion illustrator, said, “I think they were beautiful. What I noticed most was how lovely every movement that the dancers made, the way the skirts moved around the floor, their foot movements, their arm movements, beautiful, especially the dance with the sleeves. I thought that was really gorgeous.”
Magdalena Casper, a project accountant with CDR Maguire, said: “I know the history, and it’s very sad, and people need to be reminded about it, that not every country is free, and we need to fight for our freedom.”
Ms. Minnock said, “Getting to see firsthand and hear your own stories from Shen Yun was eye-opening, inspiring, but also confirming that more needs to be done to allow for religious curiosity, just more to be done about letting people believe in God.”
“I don’t think anyone that the main thing is forbearance and spiritual purity or perfection should ever be persecuted. Because how is that going to ... that’s not going to hurt anybody. It’s only going to make you and the world a better place,” said Dana Barker, a musician.
Shen Yun’s mission is to portray 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and stories through classical Chinese dance and a live orchestra.
“It’s not only beautiful art, but a piece of Chinese history,” said Ms. Casper.
James Fisher, a retired financial advisor, said, “Oh, fantastic. Just fantastic. It’s hard to imagine how they come up with the beauty of the motion, the coloring, the background, and the CGI; it all fits together so amazingly. And it’s a great story that they tell. So we really enjoyed it very much.”
“Ten out of 10. You have to bring your children to see it. You have to come to see it,” said Ms. Minnock. “But this one is not just a family opportunity. It really is a cultural opportunity. I would say you have to come and see it. Thank you. The performance was incredible. The message is wonderful.”
Rick Ellis, a retired sales manager with the Imperial Sugar Company, said, “The music, the orchestra was fantastic, it was definitely. Going to come again next year, absolutely!"
