Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at The Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 3. Audiences were taken on a journey through ancient China brought to life by classical Chinese dance, music, and an animated backdrop. Some attendees said the performance brought them to tears.

Adrian De La Cruz, a company CEO, said, “When we were watching it, we were crying all the time. That means that we’re enjoying it and we’re getting the full effect of it. The baritone was amazing, the content was beautiful, and the dancing is so inspirational.”

“I love the music and the instruments and the costumes and the performance. I can tell it’s taken years of practice for the performers to perform to work. So it’s just really amazing,” said Lisa Falquist, a geologist.

“Just outstanding, very physical, and a lot of endurance, balance, and very graceful. And the color and the culture were just out of the world,” said Margaret Matta, a business owner.

Tommy Lukens, a senior consultant, said, “I think it’s amazing. And I really like the way they integrated the animation, because I’m a technical geek. The animation with real life, I really like the way that kind of went back and forth.”

Since 2006, Shen Yun has toured the world with a mission to revive 5,000 years of divinely inspired traditional Chinese culture from a time before communism. An effort warmly embraced by theatergoers, who felt the importance of the values showcased on stage.

“It was just beautiful, just out of this world, colorful, very meaningful in the spirituality of it. I really enjoyed it,” said Ms. Matta. “When they displayed that throughout the play, it showed that that is the way. It’s to be kind and to be good in other ways of life. We all should have the right to our own faith and what we want to believe in.”

“I’m amazed, and it was beautiful, and I appreciate the effort they have put into this. Because it’s been a great experience for me,” Mr. Lukens said.

Mr. De La Cruz said, “They’re inspirational. They’re professional, and everything they do gets the job done, gets the message out.”
