Shen Yun Brings a ‘Very Valuable Mission’ to New Brunswick, New Jersey

April 4, 2023

With four performances in New Brunswick, New Jersey, from March 30 to April 1, theatergoers appreciated the beauty of Shen Yun Performing Arts and the cultures it presents.

“I love the show. It’s absolutely beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Geri Staub, owner of Administrative Solutions.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Kelly Aber, a business owner. “The colors are beautiful, it’s uplifting, and then I’m crying. I mean, it’s just a really beautiful, beautiful show.”

“This is absolutely amazing. It’s gorgeous. The tradition, the dancing, the costumes—unbelievable,” said Jadwiga Koscinski, who is an award-winning photographer and owner of JDK images.

The state of New Jersey presented a Joint Legislation Resolution recognizing Shen Yun Performing Arts. The city’s mayor also honored the group with a proclamation.

Theatergoers shared their appreciation of Shen Yun’s mission: to bring back traditional Chinese culture from before communism.

“I think it’s a very valuable mission that has to be completed. I think it’s important that everyone knows that no government has the right to destroy anyone’s culture,” said Robert Claxton, the principal of DCF Regional School’s Cape May Campus.

They pointed out that the values shown in the performance are spiritual and universal.

“I thought there was a tremendous amount of energy and I think that it sort of relates to all religions and all cultures and all feelings of divinity,” said Patricia Corrigan Johnston, managing director of Risk Strategies.

“It’s important to follow your faith. You have to understand that we all have a creator, and that evolution and atheism really isn’t the truth,” Mr. Claxton said.

Beyond the artists, audience members commended Shen Yun’s production crew. Many added they would recommend the performance to others.

“I can’t wait to let everyone know what we think. I would recommend it to everyone. It’s a beautiful show. [It] really is,” Ms. Staub said.

“I would absolutely recommend this show. I go to Broadway often, and this is unlike anything we typically see. So it’s a wonderful thing to come and see,” Ms. Johnston said.

Starting April 6, Shen Yun will take the stage at New York City’s Lincoln Center for 13 performances through April 16.
