Through classical Chinese dance and music,
Shen Yun Performing Arts brought the beauty of ancient China to life for audiences in Guadalajara, Mexico, on May 10. The company’s mission is to rekindle China’s rich heritage from before communism.
“
Shen Yun isn’t just something to behold,
Shen Yun is something to be honored,” said Karen Elizabeth Franco Valle, a M.A. psychotherapist. “I took away with me a lot of joy in my heart, a lot of nostalgia, and a lot of gratitude for the entire production team and the artistic director who managed to bring this to Guadalajara and brought
Shen Yun to my heart.”
“The dancers’ movement is impressive, it’s perfect. I’m kind of in awe. And all the stories they’re telling us little by little, I really loved it,” said Xochitl Sánchez Martínez, a doctor.
“The orchestra’s performance was very impressive, watching them blend and carry the story in a very moving and quite exciting way,” said Héctor Daniel Maldonado Jimenez, a doctor.
“The experience with
Shen Yun was very enjoyable, especially because of the backdrop. I loved how the concept of the ocean, the forest, and the mountains was conveyed, and how everything was related to the stage design they developed in each act. That was incredible for me,” said Oscar Orlando Peña Aguayo, a psychotherapist.
Shen Yun draws its inspiration from 5,000 years of traditional Chinese civilization. Ancient Chinese people believed their culture and values to be gifts from the Divine. Audience members expressed their appreciation for the values brought to life on stage.
“Something that really caught my attention was the songs and their content,” said Mr. Aguayo. “How they talked about kindness, and how they talked about being at peace with yourself in order to transcend.”
“It’s a beautiful piece of work, a very important one right now in our times, where it talks about values, where it talks about being positive in life and doing positive things,” said Pablo Huerta Rivera, a physician. “I congratulate them, because we really need works of this kind. We truly live in a deeply broken society, especially in terms of values. And this revives the values we’ve lost.”
“It is a very calming energy, very peaceful, and very reflective. It is a responsibility that is placed on us to know and appreciate other cultures, and to make us better human beings,” said Ruben Agredano Jimenez, a surgeon.
Shen Yun has successfully concluded its 2025 world tour on May 11 and will bring an all-new program for audiences to enjoy in the next season.
