Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage in Shibuya on Jan. 18. Located in the heart of Tokyo, Japan, audience members were taken on a journey through ancient China, and they marveled at Shen Yun’s artistry.

“I was impressed by the fact that they were able to connect the projection images to the stage, from the performers to the images and back again without a single millimeter of error. And to deliver it live to the audience with a live orchestra is truly something that is not easy to do,” said Rikichi Shidoshi, a company president.

“The lightness of the steps, the dance, and the perfect consistency of the dance was amazing. I think it is very wonderful. Not just one of the programs is good, but all of them are,” said Masayoshi Noguchi, a former company president.

“I think it was towards the end of the show when a multicolored glow appeared behind the artists, and it gave us the opportunity to feel a powerful effect. Transforming a small light into something that had a massive, vibrant presence,” said Tokiyuki Saito, a company chairman.

Ancient Chinese culture was believed to be inspired by the Divine. Theatergoers said the message shown in Shen Yun’s performance resonated with them and reminded them of important values.

“I was moved by all the programs, but especially by the phrase 'Truth, Goodness, and Forbearance,’ which I thought I resonated very well with,” said Yoichi Koichi, a university department head.

“I think [reviving traditions] is a wonderful thing. China is losing a lot of its traditional culture, so I think it is very important to pass on the good things from the past to future generations,” said Mifumi Mitani, an engineer.

“It’s a great thought exercise to reflect on the universal pursuit for truth, beauty, and goodness. And I think that everyone in the audience today probably did that,” said Carmen Tate, a military attorney.

“It was a lot of fun. I really felt the Chinese culture and history. The performance was very powerful and the music really touched my heart. It was great,” said Takayoshi Inoue, a company director. “Seeing it up close and hearing it really touched my heart. I would like to come back again.”

Shen Yun will continue to perform in Shibuya from Jan. 25 through Jan. 26.
