Shen Yun Performing Arts brought to life scenes from 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture before communism on April 9, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City. Audience members said they were thrilled by the technique and skills of the performers.

“The dancers are fabulous. They’re energetic. They have great moves. I’m enjoying it very much,” said Martin Baumann, a company partner.

“I love the way the artists are live and merging into the screen in the back ... and beautiful artistry comes out of that,” he said.

“They’re incredible. They’re so amazing. Their technique is flawless. You can tell they all have such incredible ballet training. And I know the technicality of some of what they’re doing is really hard. And they make it look so easy,” said Olivia Arendt, a dancer.

“The show was fabulous, phenomenal. Just wonderful, wonderful. People have to see it. That’s all I can say. You have to see the show. It’s so exhilarating. It’s such talent. And it tells a story, one story after another story. It’s just wonderful,” said Corinne Zarou, a business owner.

Rooted in a belief in the Divine and heaven, ancient Chinese culture and values are portrayed in Shen Yun’s performances through classical Chinese dance, music, and storytelling.

“The whole spirituality and the history of it all was very impressive. I really liked the way it was done. Everybody, all the designers in the show did a nice job, a really nice job. So my hat’s off,” said Joe Gianono, a musician and composer.

“It was amazing. Between the opera singing, between the dances, to learn the Chinese culture. And I would definitely recommend this to a lot of people. The dances were amazing. It was just a beautiful performance,” said Peter Shine, a business owner.

“I think the performers are courageous. I think they’re all very beautiful, talented, athletic and it was absolutely wonderful to see them,” said Al Coppola, an actor.

Shen Yun will be performing at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City until April 13.
