Shen Yun Performing Arts successfully closed the curtain on three sold-out performances at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City on April 5 and 6. State Assembly District Leader Martha Flores-Vazquez was in the audience, and presented Shen Yun’s artists with a certificate of appreciation. She said she supports them in their efforts to rekindle China’s rich heritage from before communism.

“I really enjoyed the show. The costumes, the performance, the dance, it was absolutely tremendous. Costumes were absolutely beautiful, magnificent. The music was wonderful. I love the combination between the Western and the Eastern sounds and the instruments, and bringing the whole orchestra together was wonderful,” said Frank Vigeant, a project manager.

“I love Shen Yun so much, so much. Because for one, everyone had the same joy. It wasn't different levels of joy. Everyone was pronouncing each step together at the highest form. So I look at perfection. It was purely perfection and I really love that,” said Germaine Goodson, a Broadway dance instructor.
Shen Yun draws its inspiration from five millennia of traditional Chinese civilization. Ancient Chinese people believed their culture and values to be gifts from the divine. Theatergoers took note of these themes, and praised Shen Yun’s efforts to share them with the world.

“I thought the message was very good, to preserve your culture. It reminded me a little bit of our constitution, that you're endowed with certain rights, and my faith as well. And you have to protect those rights, protect your faith, and share them with others. So it was a great message,” said Denis McCarthy, the New York St. Patrick's Parade chairman.

“It's a wonderful story of spirituality and growth, and getting back to our traditions and how we came here, and what we're meant to be, and where we're meant to go,” said Vigeant.

“It was just an experience of a lifetime. Nothing I've ever seen like it. It was just that perfect in every respect. It's definitely the divine something, it is. It definitely had a very strong spiritual message and the unification of people, which is what made it very, very special,” said David Walti, a real estate agent.

“Believing, the belief in tradition and [the] divine. That's the most important message,” said Farr Nezhat, a physician.

Shen Yun will be performing at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City until April 13.
