SWANSEA, UK—Theatergoers said they were deeply impressed by the artistry of Shen Yun Performing Arts and its expression of inner beauty as it took the stage in Wales March 24–25.

"It's lovely to see something at that level of high quality. And it just reminds you that you have a soul and it's beautiful to watch," fresco artist Charles Snell said.

"It's just as beautiful on the inside for them trying to perform it for us, as what we're seeing on the outside, and it's just really gorgeous," doctor Isabel Jimenez Reid said.

Chartered surveyor Nick Lacono remarked: "It's just something that expresses joy, makes you happy. It's interesting, very interesting. The music is fabulous, the orchestra is fabulous."

Through live music, a dynamic animated backdrop, and classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun and its orchestra seeks to revive 5,000 years of traditional culture from “China before communism.”
The artists bring to life stories from ancient legends and historical figures, alongside pieces telling of present-day challenges under communist rule. That is also why Shen Yun is unable to perform in China today.

"I liked the idea of divine beings dancing beautifully," Mr. Snell said. "It was a good message and a positive one. And also the idea that you can't really ... that can’t be repressed. It might be for a few decades but eventually, that spirit and that strength will come back through And so I thought that was a lovely, lovely message."

"It's hard to believe that something so beautiful is not allowed in China. It's very hard to believe," business owner Robert Mathews said.

"Keep doing what you're doing, it's very impressive. The music and the dance, the athleticism, it's amazing," software developer David Morgan said.

"I think it's fantastic. It's an excellent performance, fabulous artists. It's a great new experience. It's wonderful to see," chartered surveyor Nick Lacono said.

Founded in New York in 2006, Shen Yun has performed around the world and grown into eight companies that tour simultaneously.

Jason Williams, a doctor, said, "Thank you for coming to Swansea. I hope we've been a good audience for you and you're always welcome back to Wales."
