“Whenever the conductor moved the baton, at once I felt my tears coming out. I don’t know why, it was just like [the baton] was directly touching my heart, you know?" said fashion director of Hua & Wang, Li Shihua, after seeing the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra perform in Taichung, Taiwan.
"Later I felt like I was magically transformed into a fairy, and then I was soaring around inside the notes.”
On Sept. 28, Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra premiered at the National Taichung Theater in Taiwan. Although the performance was on a Thursday, it was still packed.
The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is based in New York, but performs around the world.
It combines Eastern and Western instruments in a full orchestra, complemented by performances of opera singers singing bel canto.
It started as accompaniment to the dance performances in Shen Yun Performing Arts. The orchestra has been performing solo since 2012 when it debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York.
“You really have to listen [to this music] live. The kind of feeling you get is really very different from listening to a CD.”
