MILAN, Italy—Shen Yun Performing Arts opened its Milan premiere on the evening of Jan. 13 to a vibrant, sold-out audience. All 14 scheduled performances in the city—totaling approximately 23,000 tickets—were sold out in advance, with even last-minute seats released by organizers quickly snapped up by eager theatergoers.

Lieutenant General Piero Lucchetti of the Italian Army attended the performance and praised Shen Yun artists for their exceptional talent and artistic excellence.

“The show is marvelous and unparalleled; Shen Yun artists are exceptionally talented,” Lt. Gen. Lucchetti said. “The interaction between the performers and the dynamic backdrop demonstrates extraordinary and brilliant creativity.”

His wife, Ms. Yolanda Baiona, also commended the production, highlighting its storytelling and cultural presentation.

“The performers tell the stories beautifully, presenting traditional culture in a contemporary setting,” she said. “The interaction between the high-tech backdrop and the dancers is captivating.”

Lt. Gen. Lucchetti, a retired major general of the Italian Army, currently serves as a senior policy advisor to decision-makers at Italy’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also works closely with international organizations, including the OSCE, NATO, and the United Nations, and participates in global forums and working groups. Both he and his wife said they were repeatedly impressed by the artists’ refined technique and overall artistry.

Shen Yun artists are outstanding—no need to say more; each one is exceptional,” Lt. Gen. Lucchetti continued. “The high-tech backdrop brings characters to life in multiple forms, which is fantastic.”

Shen Yun’s high-tech animated backdrop integrates seamlessly with the performers on stage, bringing ancient legends to life through striking visual effects.

The dancers’ near-perfect, “as-one” coordination also left a deep impression on Lt. Gen. Lucchetti.

“I also noticed how perfectly synchronized the dancers were—their movements aligned as if guided along a rail,” he said. “The performers, the instructors, and those responsible for selecting the artists all uphold an extremely high standard.”

Ms. Baiona added that the performance offered audiences a rare glimpse into China’s traditional heritage.

“The performance allowed us to experience China and its traditional culture,” she said. “It reminded us how beautiful traditional Chinese culture truly is. Shen Yun is a production created by truly extraordinary dance artists.”
