Sanghoon Kang, a company representative, said, “From the beginning of the performance to the very last moment, the meticulous choreography and the performers’ hard work were evident throughout. Every dancer was flawless and impeccable. It was almost a divine level of skill, and I was deeply moved.”
Mr. Kang added, “The piece set in the Qing Dynasty left a particularly deep impression on me. The dancers conveyed the storyline so vividly through their movements and expressions, delivering it powerfully to the audience. I was truly amazed.”
“I was deeply moved when I saw it three years ago. Watching it again this time, I am still profoundly touched,” said Dawoon Kang, a fashion stylist. “You can truly feel China’s long and magnificent history. In addition, the production quality of the animated digital backdrop is extremely high, and the overall execution is stunning. The entire performance is a true feast for the eyes.”
Mr. Kang said, “In some renowned Western symphony orchestras, the melodic styles can often sound relatively similar. Shen Yun’s orchestra, however, fully brings out the unique timbre of each instrument, creating greater depth and dramatic tension in the sound and naturally drawing the audience’s attention. I believe that Shen Yun’s orchestra is truly world class.”
Ms. Kang said, “I was especially impressed by the Mongolian dance from China. Its vibrant and energetic performance conveyed a powerful sense of vitality. Perhaps because I’ve been feeling a bit low lately, I gained a great deal of energy from that piece.”
“It is rare to see a performance remain so captivating for more than two consecutive hours. This production unfolded like a series of short dramas, each seamlessly connected to the next, creating a continuous flow of storytelling that made it impossible to notice the passage of time. The two and a half hours simply flew by. It can be said that the director’s skill in structuring and choreographing the program was truly exceptional,” Mr. Kang said.
Based in New York, Shen Yun has since grown to eight different companies that simultaneously tour the globe. However, Shen Yun still cannot perform in China to this day, due to the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of faith.
Ms. Kang said, “As I understand it, the performances have at times faced certain invisible pressures from the Chinese Communist Party. History may repeat itself, but great culture should not be lost. It should be preserved and carried forward. I hope the members of Shen Yun Performing Arts will continue their tireless efforts to pass on this culture and spirit. Although I am Korean, I sincerely express my deepest gratitude for Shen Yun’s dedication to promoting Chinese history and culture.”
“These days there are various genres, so excelling in directing is difficult, but I believe they do an incredible amount of research. I really want to learn a lot from the [Artistic Director’s] creativity and challenging spirit, and I respect it,” Mr. Kang said.
