Shen Yun Performing Arts staged 10 performances in Taiwan’s capital from Jan. 27–Feb. 4, attracting prominent figures from the business and political communities. Theatergoers applauded the production’s artistic excellence.

“It’s a wonderful and beautiful experience, so I really enjoy it. My biggest impression is that the performance makes me feel very calm, peaceful, and comfortable,” Huang Hong-Shya, a former Justice of Taiwan’s Judicial Yuan, said.

“I came to see the Shen Yun performance today, and I think it was well worth it. It really moved me,” Hu Chen-Pu, a former Army General, said. “What was on display was a high level of professionalism in every field,” he added.

“It was truly breathtaking because the entire performance seamlessly blended dance, music, and song, fully showcasing traditional values and culture. I also found it to be a rich and diverse expression of Eastern culture,” Lin Chien-Pang, an accounting firm director, said.

Shen Yun features classical Chinese dance and a live orchestra, with a mission to revive China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture, which has been severely undermined under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party.

Chairman of the Taiwan Statebuilding Party Wang Hsing-Huan said, “[Shen Yun] is not just about the stories it tells but also the way the performances are staged, the costumes, and the physical expression. It embodies the essence of Chinese aesthetics. What the Chinese Communist Party has destroyed is not merely aesthetics or culture but the very soul; and without a soul, there can be no morality.”

“I believe this performance will undoubtedly instill in the Chinese people a renewed sense of hope and an awakening regarding their own cultural traditions. They will realize that the Chinese culture they have come to know is completely different from the authentic Chinese culture presented by Shen Yun, especially in terms of our understanding of human nature,” Ma Yi-Hsiang, secretary general of the Taiwan Statebuilding Party, said.

“The performance has captured the essence of traditional culture, bringing to light the most beautiful and authentic aspects of our heritage. This is incredibly important, as it prevents people from losing sight of their true inner selves, or the truest, kindest, and most beautiful aspects of our culture. I saw this in the Shen Yun performance,” company CEO Lin Chan-Sheng said.

Drawing from ancient myths and folk tales, Shen Yun brings to life China’s divinely inspired traditional culture—“China before communism.” Audience members welcomed the meaning behind the company’s name—the beauty of divine beings dancing.

“The energy of Chinese culture and civilization is, in fact, divine energy that has been transformed into the songs, dances, and music of Shen Yun, which are then conveyed to the human world,” Hsueh Shui-Fu, a biomedical group CEO, said. “Naming it Shen Yun is absolutely brilliant, truly brilliant. It takes the essence of the divine and expresses it simply through human terms, making people go, ‘Oh, I get it,’” he added.

“[The performance begins with] gods descending to the mortal world. Shen Yun then goes on to showcase 5,000 years of Chinese culture. I think this is wonderful; it conveys some very important, positive, and uplifting ideas to the audience,” Lin Heng-Yi, a company general manager, said.

“We should continue to spread Shen Yun. This is a truly meaningful endeavor, and we hope it will reach more people and more countries,” Mr. Hu said.

“That was a truly outstanding performance. You all did an amazing job. Thank you for your hard work. I’m confident everyone will see this ray of light,” Mr. Lin Chan-Sheng said.
